In 2019, I decided to pick up a new handicraft: lacquerware making. This technique has a history spanning thousands of years, originating in China and flourishing in Japan, where it continues to be used in daily household items since the Tang Dynasty. Did you know that porcelain is commonly referred to as "China," while lacquerware is often called "Japan"? Lacquerware is a painstaking craft that involves hundreds of repeated layers of painting and polishing. I transform this simple wooden chocolate box into jewelry box embedded with shell decorations.

Since I started Lacquer Wear Craft, I haven’t done any leather work for quite a while. This bag belongs to my mom and it was on the waiting list for five long years! This time, I focused on detailed craftsmanship, including the symmetrical pattern work on both the front and back. I also incorporated leather hardware wrap and used material clashing techniques to add a modern twist. Most importantly, I selected an ultra-lightweight material to significantly reduce the weight of what would otherwise be a heavy leather bag.

Product and texture shots were taken by myself in between the main shoot sessions to help save costs for the client. This simple add-on shot brings additional value to our creativity and overall production process.

As a creative professional, I constantly embrace new challenges to explore and expand my creative skills while providing effective solutions for my clients. This content video was my initiative to encourage clients to generate more content within the digital space. Even though we faced limited time and budget constraints, we managed to produce this additional content in between other scheduled shoots.

Exploring new skills related to my passion for design and crafting has been a rewarding experience. From sourcing the right materials to creating detailed patterns and making precise mock-ups of the bag, I carefully cut each piece. I then use both hand sewing and machine sewing techniques to bring the design to life.

While leading a life filled with diverse passions, I have also dedicated considerable time and effort to working on wedding events. From designing invitations to comprehensive event planning, every single detail matters in creating the perfect day that every newlywed dreams of. This includes crafting handmade pop-up cards, arranging beautiful floral displays, and meticulously setting tables to ensure everything is just right.
